Well I got the Petit duct so no more fresh air for the battery... Do you recommend I:

A: Fab a duct?

or

B: Move it to the rear bins?

the miata had a rear mounted battery, they route the cables on the inside of the power plant frame.

All you need is a miata battery from Track Auto and a 4 guage power cable about 6 feet long.

Oh and a dremel to cut the bin out some.

FD3 isn't the miata battery a wetcell? I heard it wasn't a good idea to keep them in the cabin. I haven't looked into it though-just accepted the word on the street. I installed a FMIC and put the miata battery in the engine compartment. It was a very VERY close fit. I haven't vented it and noticed the cross memeber under the battery tray has some corrosion. It was a bit rusted before installing the battery, but now it looks much worse. If I had it to do over (and I probably will eventually) I'd buy a dry cell and mount it in the bins. The miata battery ran me $84 so it's not much of a bargin either.

Thanks! Sounds like a plan. As soon as I park the car for the winter... I'm going to start tackling all the stuff I couldn't due to the fact that this has been my daily driver for 11 months. Now I can pull her apart and polish everything, and do all the little 2-3 day projects I couldn't get to before.... I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Anybody have any more info on the battery in the cabin thing? It's cause of the gasses released, right?

get a sealed one, or you need a box with a vent to the outside. the miata batteries are no longer gel cells, so get something else
