I am in the process of getting a '93 RX-7 and need a mechanic (who knows what their doing) around the LA area to look it over and perform any/all of the 'reliability mods' (downpipe, AST tank, colling fan, radiator, hoses, ect...).

I'm not looking to perform any performance mods (yet), I just want peace of mind for now and get all the reliabilty mods out of the way.

And how much can I expect to pay to have all these mods done?

I would attempt to do it myself, but have never worked with this type of engine before and don't want to take the risk of causing any damage....

If anybody out there who can do this (or can recommend somebody who can), please let me know!

Thanks,

I just did most of the reliability mods myself on my RX7 last month.

The biggest pain was the vacuum hose replacement. This took forever. It wasn't super hard you just have to be very careful, meticulous and patient.

The downpipe was a little bit of a pain but not too bad. But I found that it caused my boost to increase so much I had to buy a boost controller.

I put in an SR Motorsports "Ultimate Radiator" along with an aluminum AST and it was pretty easy to do.

There are a lot of good shops in the LA area. You might want to contact Mazdatrix or M2 Performance for recommendations.

I have heard prices from $500 to $1000 for the vacuum hose replacement.

If you don't have any turbo problems I'd just leave the vac hoses alone.
