, that should yeild a profit as well!
Bingo!

This is one of the lessons I learned. It only cost me a broken stud and some bloody knuckles, but I did figure it out eventually .

I am just wondering is this an issue with the other 3" downpipes as well or just mine? It seems as if there would be issues like this with any of the other downpipes as well you know with the tight fit on that bottom stud. I had that problem when installing mine as well but I still got it tight enough where there were no leaks. I reused the stock studs. I am still more satisfied with this one than the hks. If anyone is interested in catback systems I also have them for the fd's They look real nice these are made by top speed also. If you want to know more move on over to some of the supra forums They are going crazy over how good they sound. anyway thanks for the purchase I am sure you will both be happy when you are putting the dp to use. Thank you Louis for all of the tech-help.

I too wondered whether other downpipes share the same bolt-problem. I did alot of reading before I bought the dp to see what problems people had (with all brands of dp), and I never once came across this bolt problem. When you say you used the stock studs, do you mean you used the stock nuts too? I can't imagine how you got the nuts to tighten down without bending the studs or grinding down the dp. Also, for me the clearence problems occured with three of the four bolts. The only one without an issue was the upper rear bolt. I'll try to get some pics.

Ditto! Same exact issues here

FYI, rxotic, the DP works perfectly without leaks, and i finally hit the boost fuel cut (oops), something I hadn't been able to do with the stock precat and CB.

Thanks for the deal, it is well worth the money! Instructions would help, tho.. just keep that in mind!

i have had 5dp's between the 2 of my fd's and can say that the pettit, as well as the M2 one that i had was a bitch to get that rear lower stud in as well. i like the topspeed pipes the best, because of the value. i KNOW that the designs are the same, and as far as the qualty of the topspeed one, it is great. you guys porbably noticed the tig welding was done perfectly and the finish on them is perfect too. the topspeed catback is going on my car next week and i will let you all know how it goes......it looks EXACTLY like the N1 apex one, with out the name tag, and heafty extra cost.... :bigok:

FINALLY...got everything back together (was waiting for turbo gaskets for the y-pipe). After starting the engine I saw a fair amount of smoke (light colored but not white) coming from the dp. Eventually it stopped (after about 10 min of idle). I figure either it's not sealing properly (because of the questionable fitment) or there's some chemical or something on the dp (or all the PB blaster I sprayed) that is burning off. I'll start the car again when its completely cool. If I see more smoke then I'll assume its the seal and I'll probably have to remove the cat and catback like sinful7 did. Any other ideas on what the smoke might be? Anyone else see smoke due to chemicals (or pb blaster) after installing a dp?

Oh yeah...revving the engine did not seem to increase the amount of smoke coming from the dp.

Started car 2 hours later. Little or no smoke. Hopeful that it was just the pb blaster boiling off.

...now, I'm going to TRY and post some pictures of the install...

i twas definately the pb or wd-40 that you used. it usually takes a few minutes to get all the **** to burn off. there have been NO flange fitment problems that i know of to date, and if it is leaking from there, just double check that everything is tight after it seedes...
