Shes been in the shop almost all of december, but I should get her back in a few days.

Heres an idea of what's going on with her.

Full rebuild, twins @ 14psi, Apex'i PFC with commander, Apex'i Dual Element Intakes, Greddy Type-S BOV, Huge Greddy SMIC, Greddy TB elbow, Hardened 2mm Apex Seals, Hardened Corner Seals, ACT Clutch, Denso fuel pump, Greddy Profec-B, Brembo Drilled Slotted Rotors, SS Brake lines, SS clutch hydraulic line, full 3" Greddy Downpipe, midpipe, and catback, Autometer Boost AFR Water temp Oil Pressure Gauges

I've spent more than I should, but dammit, this is one of the few things in life that gives me pleasure anymore, other that Rx7widow https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Anyways, here's some pictures of some of the goodies that're already on. I'm so excited I got a chub.

Are you planing on running 14psi on stock injectors? I tried it once and at 15psi, my injectors top out at 92%

Hardened Corner Seals,

what kinda seals are you using?

ambassador_josh 01-03-2005 03:40 AM

I was told they're "hardened" seals from Atkins Rotary.

Yeah, stock injectors for now, I've been told I can run that much safely.

jspecracer7 01-03-2005 06:36 AM

Solid corner seals more likely.

PhoenixDownVII 01-03-2005 11:08 AM

Sounds like a solid setup, one that I'd want to mimick in my modest Fd.

However, 14psi on stock injectors? I thought this was kinda of pushing it, why not upgrade? Not a hard thing to do...

Are you keeping the Turbo's Sequential?

Finally, what shop?

ambassador_josh 01-04-2005 03:20 AM

The shop is Rotary Resource. As far as 14 psi goes, my mechanic has been running that in his for a couple of years now, and its his daily driver (and he delivers pizza in it on the side, for petes sake) without any adverse affects. I'll know if they're maxed out , and if so, I'll turn the boost back a bit until I can upgrade the injectors. Keep in mind that although the injectors are stock, the fuel pump is not. Its a denso 255 lph pump that SHOULD handle my setup.

I've been reading alot about the larger fuel pumps at:

http://www.turborx7.com/fuelsystem.htm

They say, "Please note that installing an upgraded fuel pump alone provides no performance benefit compared to stock."

and

"The bottom line is with a stock fuel system the injectors will be maxxed out before the fuel pump becomes inadequate."

Therefore, I'm not sure while you had a larger fuel pump installed by itself. Was the regulator upgraded? Just cu https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif rious.

Thanks,

Keith

ambassador_josh 01-09-2005 05:02 PM

Hey guys sorry for stringing you along. I was supposed to get her back today, but we've got some kinks in the system, mainly

Boost spikes to 20psi (!)

The car wont start with the PFC (!)

BOV sounds sick, it whines while driving it (spring too loose?)

I snapped the little plastic piece off of my hood release cable

My new brake rotors arent on it yet

02 sensor's not reading to either my gauge or turbo timer

But here are some pics I promised..granted they were taken with my cell phone, but it's better than nothing. I have video coming once I can figure it out.

And WTF is Sex Grease ??? , What kinda sex you need it for ???

ambassador_josh 01-10-2005 04:03 AM

Sex Grease is the ultimate in lubrication for your piston and her cylinder walls. It reduces friction WHILE AT THE SAME TIME increasing your slide slide slippety slide. Accept no substitute. Not recommended for 2 stroke engines. Check dipstick periodically. Reapply as needed. Rinse, lather, and repeat. A lot.

Rx7Widow 01-10-2005 04:08 AM

Anyways, back to talking about the car.....

And I can't believe you posted that ******* picture.

ambassador_josh 01-10-2005 04:10 AM

Jeez, I'm sorry

Rx7Widow 01-10-2005 04:11 AM

I'm not ashamed, your house is a mess behind you though. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

ambassador_josh 01-10-2005 04:13 AM

Heil!

ambassador_josh 01-10-2005 04:57 AM

Okay, all sex grease jokes aside, watch my video and tell me what you think the problem could be. Listen to the BOV, or more generally, the entire induction setup. Doesnt sound too good.

Sinful7 01-10-2005 10:03 AM

So, how do you use this sex grease? A step-by-step pictorial would probably help.

Dumbrotorkid 01-10-2005 04:18 PM

seeing that vid makes me miss driving mine

:(

ambassador_josh 01-11-2005 05:46 AM

What would be the cause of that whining? In the vid that is https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR

I'm thinking its the sprint on the BOV not being tight enough. Suggestions?

It's possible but I have the same BOV and it doesn't make that noise when the spring is too loose. If you think it's the BOV then get an allen wrench and tighten it up some and see if that helps. Now way to find out unless you try. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/tongue.png

ambassador_josh 01-11-2005 06:11 AM

We havent adjusted it since I got it. I wonder what that noise could be. Are you single turbo or twin? I'm twin and have the BOV still connected to the rubber hose that runs into the back of the air filter, its just ziptied to a hole in the bracket where the airpump went

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683664.gif You were told wrong......but you'll find out soon enough.

ambassador_josh 01-19-2005 12:32 AM

what would you recommend? bigger secondaries, or primaries, or both?

ambassador_josh 01-19-2005 12:36 AM

BTW, the knock sensor on the PFC hardly blips, and the engine runs pig rich already, even at 14psi. On the AFR gauge, i'm 2-3 lights into the green, and on my turbo timer, I'm always running .75-.95 voltage, and as I remember it, the closer to 1 the richer it is. That and I hardly boost it.
