Intercooler.. Fmic.. Smic..

I have stock twins. I am interested in upgrading to a better intercooler. I don't plan on converting to a single turbo set-up. I know a fmic would block needed air from getting to the radiator..(I may also upgrade to a fluydine rad.) and the smic is more likely to heat soak.. I don't plan on taking my car to the track alot..maybe a little bit. I don't live in the city. But I need something that would be good to drive around town once in a while, with the occassional light to light racing. I may upgrade to the M2's at some point..if that would matter. I am almost convienced on getting a M2 intake box also. That's why I thought a fmic would let me fit the M2 box in. Are there any fmic's that don't require cutting up my fd? I know it would probably help cooling if I had some sort of block in for my radiator.. but not sure how that works.. thanks alot.

Given your purposes, a medium stock mount will work just fine - PFS, M2, Pettit - no cooling issues, drops right in, do it yourself in an hour, no relocation of radiator, no moving the AC condensor around, no battery relocation.
Front mounts have their advantages but seems like a hassle with no obvious gains for a stock, twin turbo, occasionally raced, street car that has to worry about driving in traffic, especially in North Carolina in summer. If FM have an advantage it's at the drag strip with the hard-core, although I don't think that has actually been demonstrated. Make it easy on yourself.

it depends on what you want from the car, a friend of mine is happier with his stock mount greddy than he was with the m2 stuff, the car lost 8 hp but it fits 1000% better and it doesnt look like the generic speaco core that the m2 is

If you upgrade your radiator, you should have no problems whatsoever!!!!
The only benefit of sticking with a stock mount is ease of installation, nothing else. After comparing intake air temps with my friend, the difference is night and day. Heat soak will blow your **** up, period! While my air temps stay well below a "safe" range, my friend's fluctuate as the car is not moving/moving. Stop lights and traffic make his temps hit mid 60s(and thats in cold weather). While it is true that you block some air flow to your rad, its not enough to cause problems....
After I got my KOYO, water temps have not gone past 90C while moving and under heavy boost/load. Idling/not moving is a bit higher but not high enough to make much of a difference.
