Alright,

Since i had the new turbo built i've had some blue oil smoke on startup, in under a minute it would go away. Never thought anything of it, figured it was normal.

Tonight on the highway doing a boost run in 3rd gear I let off to slow for my off-ramp and POOF billowing oil smoke, instantly checked the vitals, oil pressure looked good no crazy temps anywhere, at idle motor pulling 16" of vac.

Got home safely and heres my diag so far:

Turbo has spot directly under it of oil dripping onto crossmember

Exhaust side of turbo middle section is wet, looks like an oil seepage kind of wetness, intake side has one little spot with same seepage look

Took off I/c coupler between turbo pipe and I/C, no traces of oil in the pipes or on the coupler pre-i/c.

Smoke seems to occur mostly when the engine is revved and then as the rpms fall the smoke begins, some smoke at idle if motor/turbo are hot from driving.

Engine oil level is good

Feed line has no kinks in it, return is smooth curve not leaking, kinked or blocked.

Engine starts right up hot (havent let it cool all the way down yet to try cold startup, this JUST happened) idles where it normally does about 1300rpm doesnt seem abnormal sounding.

Motor pulls a solid 16" of vac at idle, doesnt fluctuate at all.

Car still pulls too doesnt seem to have a lack of power.

SO:

Does this sound like the turbo oil seals are shot? (t04z ball bearing)

do i ave solid evidence or is there anything else i can specifically do to prove its definitely the turbo? (i tried wobbling the shaft, didnt seem too loose for a BB unit)

What should i do to make sure nothing else gets damaged because of this? I drove maybe 2 miles from when it blew to when i stopped, i figured obviously needs oil drained and new filter.

Anyone ever have a t04z rebuilt? price around? i know you need to replace the chra they wont rebuild them. I SHOULD have a brand new t04r on the shelf of my garage waiting to slap on BUT thats another story of me getting robbed for over a year and a half from a well known shop that ill leave for later.

******* money pit, knew i shoulda sold it.

Is there supposed to be a restrictor orifice in the oil feed line on that turbo?

I'm not sure. I bought it as a kit with a premade -3AN feed line. Doesn't seem like any restrictor is there.

-3 should be ok, sounds like the exhaust side seal took a crap...

They have a built in restrictor.

"Exhaust side of turbo middle section is wet, looks like an oil seepage kind of wetness"

Its the turbo. Send it over here Kevin, I'll hook it up...
