Just curious. Assuming it is a map sensor, or me running rich, Would the PowerFC be able to compensate for this stuff? I know it can fix my fuel problem but what about the map sensor?



Also when I checked my plugs when I took them out they were two different colors. Two were white and two were brown. They looked pretty bad. I think you might be right pete. I also thought for a while I was running rich.

 

white = lean.. probably your trailings right?

black = rich.. probably your leadings right?



only bad condition would be if they were white on 1 rotor, and black on the other.. then you have a fuel problem.



the PFC cannot compensate for a disconnected map sensor, the car would not boost and make it near impossible to drive.. you would also pour black smoke at idle because the MAP sensor would read 1bar... IE atmosphere instead of vacuum.

 

Damn....right on the money. I just checked them since I still have them outside. So I am guessing this is normal?

 

well its pretty normal. but i would replace them or clean them off, also check to make sure all your plug wires are connected properly and your grounds are good.

 

which 2 were normal and which 2 were not?

When I first put the new plugs in the car was strong. Now it is so-so.

This summer I plan on getting the PowerFC and an ignition pack to hopefully help out.

 

both sets are pretty normal. In most cases you don't want the trailings to be pure white, but a little bit of white on them is normal as the trailings get the "end" of the combustion cycle and the leadings get the first "half" as to why they are black from burning lots of fuel. Joe, i would get that PFC as soon as you can and get a good map for the mods you have.



As the white is normal on trailings, you kinda want them brown with some tips of white. Just go easy on her, and change the plugs.. lemme know what happens.

 

i just removed mine today, and both sets were black....????? i am completely stock so just the FD just normally run rich?

 

I think that is just normal. I have learned that these cars are just like people. Everyone is different.



I plan on getting the PFC either next month or the month after. I don't drive it much, Just to school and back and since their is no school now I only drive it to entertain myself. Thanks everyone for their input!

 

yes a stock fd will be all black, they do run that rich



joe: have a look at the leading ignition, the coils do go bad
