Just my two cents: First, 17 grand ain't exactly chicken feed. There's lots of interesting toys you can buy for that kind of money. Second, I don't believe any reference was made as to the current condition of the car. Sure, it has the mods, but has it been beat to ****? Hmmm....
Best of luck to you.
Best of luck to you.

Heres a question for you. What are you going to do about registering, inspecting, and insuring this car. I hope for your sake this thing doesn't have to be put up on a lift and looked at by a mechanic. And if you ever wreck this thing you better hope the insurance adjuster is blind.

Problem is when you modify any car heavily, especially swapping a different motor in, it will only appeal to a very few individuals and be hard to sell. Thats probably why it went for such a steal. Any dyno numbers?

The red top SR has a stock bottom end and has laid down 545 whp @ 26 psi. This is the current record in the US for stock block SR's.

The swap isn't what would bother someone. The 10second timeslip however would. It was hard enough for me to sell my T78 RX-7. People didn't want something already done up, or they were afraid of the power and reliability. Fact is, its hard to sell modified cars no matter what the engine, drivetrain, or car.
Its just a fact. Modified cars always go for less than STOCK cars.. the only exceptions being stuff from F&F and really well known shop cars.
I'm doing a V8 swap. Stripping it of its soul or whatever you want to say, This is my THIRD RX-7, i've had every setup pretty much imaginable. I've rebuilt rotaries.. Its time for something new. I've never had a motor blow due to bad tuning, just bad luck. Example being the current car, was driving, and the injector clip decided to pop off while i was doing a hard run. I had a perfectly tuned map, just a freak incident.
Time for something new. Don't rag on a car because of its engine. Its still an FD. It still handles like an FD, and is just as fast/if not faster than most FDs.
Trust me i'm still a rotorhead..heh

granted it had its rotary removed, not the best thing, however someone always wonders if they can do something.. my question is why would the guy let it go after so much work went into it? what might be wrong with it...the big question is what are you going to do about maint. on the thing. parts and what not. the two guys with sr20det's around here wait very long for parts. either way I say leave a rotary in an rx-7. I also say that it should be a fun ride, and I would have bid on it if I had the cash...so congradulations on the car...have fun with it.
