I prefer highflow cat with racing beat/m2 dual.

All I ever did was break stock motor mounts when I was single.

[quote name='Fd3BOOST' date='May 7 2005, 01:12 PM']The stock exhaust kicks ***. I just threw it on to see how much better my car would sound. Oh man. It almost as though I never tinkered with it in the first place. It's so quiet. Now the turbo is spooling faster too. Next thing out the window is going to be the aftermarket engine mounts. I took the torque brace off. Car is riding nice and smooth.

I wonder if the car could make 400hp if I were to run 18psi or better with water injection using the stock exhaust? How sweet would that be, A 400hp single turbo fd that sounds close to stock.

My car must have been irregular.

I have solid mounts and a solid torque brace. It doesent clunk or vibrate much at all when driving.

This isnt a piston motor, when that motor torques it is doing so in opposite directions which makes solid mounts vibrate. Rotarys torque in the same direction all the time, so the torque wolnt vibrate so bad. I think cars with polyurathane motormounts rattle more then just solid AL, just what I have experienced..

From 94 on fd3s uses better engine mounts. More rubber less chance of braking. I replaced my 93 ones seems much better.

Re exhaust. First i added 3" cat back small increase in hp (about 10 rwhp) still very quite. Then i got 3" downpipe for twin turbo from japan... overboost problems, fuel cut with std computer, still not that loud. Power fc got rid of fuel cut problems. Then put a 3" mid pipe in (no more cat) boost levels remained stable... too loud! Added muffler to mid pipe . Sounds perfect not to loud just right. Down side new clutch slipped right after second turbo kicks in. Exhaust system, factory boost controller =16 psi .

peter farrell cat back sounds similar to a racing beat, my exhaust is SUPER quiet and i have a 3" downpipe and 3" catback, when im on the throttle hard it sounds like a higher pitched REVVVVVVVVVVVVV really, not anywhere near a rice sound. No other motor could sound like a rotary with this exhaust setup honestly.
