[quote name='Rob x-7' date='May 7 2005, 06:31 PM']I have never been a fan of soild mounts and engine braces in any car, all they do is transmit any and all vibration to the frame and through the car.

thats not all they do rob.. this wouldnt be an issue for a stock car.. or one with mild mods...

sometimes your held to the functionality of these mods..

they do eliminate torque twists and miss shifts...so it becomes a matter of compromise...

if stock mounts are letting what little torque a rotary engine has twist in its mounts then the stock mounts are garbage.

other cars run big blocks with lots more torque with stock mounts

anyone actually seen a engine twist in its mounts?

I have. With stock mounts the engine will twist slightly when you give it throttle. It is not much but it definitely moves.

all cars engine move with a bit, thats why they make the mounts from rubber, but vosko said it best- I guess if your beating the hell out of the car the vibration from the solid mounts wont bother you at all.

you should go the old fashioned way before there was fancy mounts- put a chain on the engine

I have noticed that my cars ride quality is lacking....I am not sure if it is the solid motor mounts, engine torque brace, differential brace, unobtanium bushing kit, TEIN Flex coilovers, or the 285-35-18 tires? But it definately rides on the harsher side of things....makes driving the wife's Mini feel like I'm riding in a Benz. But my car is way faster than her Mini, so it evens out.

But yeah, from time to time, it does get old listening to the damn car's noises....exhaust, bov, rattles, etc...I wish I could do something to help my car ride a little nicer...but most of my parts are pretty permanent.
