How to Pull Codes JDM FD?

I have a 1992 FD3S and I have been told that the 'Heat' light is also the engine light. Is this true?
And how would i pull the codes out of the computer. My light only came on a couple times and only for a split second at a time, but I am curious how to check anyway.
