i go over to my friends house today as he was pulling the engine out of a wrecked 2001 rz, so i got to see what the 99+ rx7 engine looks like.

mazda got smart in 99, the rats nest is gone and in its place is a big plastic thing with the solenoids. it has 1 vacuum line to feed it, and about 3-4 to run stuff, its very cool. this one also had the 280ps turbos, you can see the abradable seal in there. they also have a better abs unit, the bilstien shocks. it kinda bugs me that they fixed the fd after they stopped selling em here

Is the 99 engine and/or 99 turbos something that many owners stateside are considering? Or is it insanely expensive? Or do they decide that if they're going to mod their car they want to go crazy with the power instead?

I'm not sure if I understood..was that a 2001 RZ..here?

Thanks for the response to my email too.

no the U.S. only got the 93-95 3rd gens.

I have the 99 spec turbos and they are not all that much better.

They do spool faster , i only have them cause I got a John Duff special discount on them.

So where are you and your friend located Austrailia??

Was it bought to fix up and drive, or was this RZ just imported to the US(again where ever it is you live), for your buddy to rip apart for parts?

Will he be selling anything from this wrecked RZ??

cheers

Shawn
