I dont know exactly how you test them other than maybve with a voltometer.

They are very inexpensive to replace though.

I belive its under $40.

You can check the resistance accross the terminals using a multimeter.

All the checks really arent that effective.....

They wont say if they are putting out right, firing correct, or working under load.

I would say just get a new set if in doubt. FD3BOOST $40???? Damn thats HELL-O-CHEAP

I would say check plugs, check wires, god forbid the ignitor (Big money)

Whats happening anyway to make you think its the coils? I saw you said mis-firing.... When? What RPM? Under boost? at idle?

I am I wrong Jason?

I was under the impression that you can get some for real cheap.

Hell no. Coils are expensive.

You check the resistance across the posts. Its in the shop manual

the cheap way to do it is to use another set of *known* good coils form another car. like JTimport said, using a multimeter doesnt say what happens under load, but yes you can check resistance with a multimeter.

always replace the part in question w/ a known good one from a friend before dishing out the money to "try" if that works.

Mine were split open. Made it surprisingly easy to check.

Umm, Dave, they come out to just under $1000 CDN at the dealer.
