My dads 93's hood will not open. When he pulls the plastic handle inside the car nothing happens. The handle moves out like all is normal but the hood will not POP.

Any tips on how to pop the hood??

Crow bar...?

ok probably not.. But you could try pushing down on the hood while someone else pulls the release.. maybe the latch needs lubrication..

Sounds like the cable to the handle is broken, it usually breaks on the handle end, try to get under the dash there and see if you can grab the cable and give it a tug.

Hmm I had a similar problem. When I pull the lever, it would like normal. There is resistance as if it were working properly. But the hood doesn't pop up. I just try to squeeze my fingers under/between the crack between the hood and front bumper and try to pull the hood up. It would come up. Sometimes it takes a lil more power. Try sticking something under to pry it up. Not a crow bar though.

I find that it's better to just push your hood close with your hands than to just drop it. Dropping it would cause the hood to get stuck. Well this is on my (old) car anyways.

What happened in mine is the plastic coating got burnt off the hood release cable where it passes close to the turbos.

This then exposes the metal liner and subsequently the inner cable, which are subjected to more heat and rust, cable stretches and hood doesn't quite open.

I took my hood catch off under the dash, tied a real small knot in the cable between the end of the cable and the cable outer (so that it didn't interfere with free travel of the cable but shortened it), reassembled and sorted. Until it breaks- but I'm hoping that's much later!
