yea...if the shifter gasket is out heat comes in...

Also if you notice a little more road noise it might be the rubber piece that connects from the console to the shifter under the boot.

Other than checking those two things...I say live with it and call it normal. If **** starts melting...ummm problems.

Pull up the console and make sure your shifter gaskets are

there, if they arent, that will bring the temps up in that area a LOT

I never thought about that. Their were like 5 of those rubber things on my last car. On the one i have now it seems like it doesn't have as many. I think the car I have now is also louder too. Can you buy those things? Are they exspensive? Or are they just one size fits all?

Im sure you can buy them--- I just checked the parts book and I could only find the main one that bolts down. The other ones I have no idea, I cant find them. I think I have 4 of those little gakets, but 2 and 2 are stuck together so it may look like 2.

I would just look to see if they are not cracked, the bolted down gasket is in place. Make sure the other gaskets are there too.

Is this what you are looking for? http://www.mazdatrix.com/g4.htm Look at the Shifter and tower section part # 64-490A-FD01. The 3 piece kit is $49.93.
