Sometimes i feel heat eminating from the middle console. I rest my hand on top of the rear defroster switch area, and sometimes it gets pretty warm to mildly hot. Some days it does this, other days i don't feel any heat. I've never really taken note if it's from the stop and go traffic or not, but I'm concerned this might develop into a problem, especially because the summer's coming. Any ideas anyone?

yes i notice this too, i think its cuz the downpipe is right underneath there
|
or the tranny.... the DP is further under the passenger side of the car, i dont think it would effect the console temps.

yes i notice this too, i think its cuz the downpipe is right underneath there I haven't had this problem. I drove the car for 8 hours straight coming back from florida and never felt anything. My car also has a downpipe..... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif Their really isn't anything underneath the center console. Just a couple of wires and thats it. Maybe heat is transferring from the transmission. I notice that my shifter gets hot when I drive it. |
well i notice this more when im doin city driving.... cuz when you're driving in the highways it kinda gets aired out...... i also have the stock dp in thats why i would have suspected it for my car.... i dont know about his
i wouldnt doubt that its the tranny specially if you get it more on city driving with all the gear changes and all |
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say this is normal. If you have leather interior that might also be a simple solution. But heat from the transmission would be my guess. I wouldn't worry about it

Pull up the console and make sure your shifter gaskets are
there, if they arent, that will bring the temps up in that area a LOT |
yep I had this problem with my first rx7 I replaced the shifter gasket and walla no more heat.
