Had An Idea Last Night
#1
Ok right now I cannot control boost on my car. I ported out the exhaust ports but did not do the wastegate. But surprisingly i get no creep. But the down side is I cant get the boost down to anything under 15psi. The car will hold at 15psi. When I had the N1 silencers installed I was getting a solid 12 psi but the car felt extremely laggy. I removed them to fix that annoying problem but that has left me here with the unadjustable 15psi. Now I am on stock injectors (i do use a walbrow pump though) So my duty cycle has become an issue. I am ok for the time being but as soon as the weather gets cold i am gonna be in trouble.
Ok so last night im laying down and had a though, Originally i had considered running just one silencer to create a little bit of back pressure on the turbo.
Well beside the fact that of that looking retarded, i dont know who well that would work. Altough I am going to give it a try to see.
Now the better idea that I had was to take the silencers and cut the down some, which in turn would open the hole on them. So in a sense it would be like tunning a trumpet, the larger the hole the more air flow you will get (i know, i know nothing new there ) But I just hadn't considered it yet. I am going to cut them shorter in an attempt to get my boost to sit at 12 psi. Then I would then be able to close the wastegate some with the controller if I wanted some more boost.
Now this is all just a tempary patch to this situation. I intend to get a GT35/40.
I was reading around last night and I am sold on that turbo.
Any thoughts on any of this anyone?

I think you should change the pills for your WG line... you can take a drill to the stock ones if you need to make them bigger.. worked for me when i didn't have a ported wastegate.. had the same problem.

thats a good idea dave, we played with an n1 dual to try and get it quiet once, and we did the 1 silencer thing, but making a larger tube for the silencer is a good idea.
how big is the pipe in your silencers?

Well technically i dont have a pill right now. I am using a turbosmart manual controller. But I could take it out and try some pills.
Ok well sorry for this big *** pic but I am getting married in about 4 hours and I am short on time. Ok see the line i scored into the silnecer? This is where I would cut the pipe part off and then just use the end part that still would be able to bolt to the tip of the catback. The pipe end is only maybe 1 1/2" so its pretty small.
I would be leaving the opening at about 2 1/2 " I think that would create enough back pressure to get the boostunder control. I'll make the cut a small hole at first and see where that leaves me. I can cut more off if i need to.

changing pills isn't going to do any good.He told me that even with no vac lines on the wastegate he still got 15 psi. Or with the manual boost controller all the way open still 15psi.
I wonder if your wastegate is stuck?
