recently a friend of mine bought a RX-7 tourer package 94 model ..... the car is fine and idles well but it sometimes takes the boost to 10-8 psi i.e i give runs the first few run it goes to 10-8 Psi but problem is it starts at 5 psi or less stays there till higher rpm range say like 5500 rpm and the boost is incosistent i.e sometimes the max is 8 sometime 9 or 10 but it does not stay there till the whole speed range ..... and when the car has taken some boosts and all it then drops the boost to 5 psi and do not exceed it ... in any gear whether you WOT it or give it a drag or you run it in any gear .... consistent 5 psi or less at ranges where it previously have given 8-10 psi .... what can the problem be and where to start ... comments are always appreciated by me so please do not hestate fill it in ;

thanks in advance

have you checked for any boost leaks???or maybe the intake pipes are starting to collapse,because the warmer the egine gets the more prone it is for the pipes to collapse???thats my .02$

but the thing is this if its the leak why does it take the first few boosts ... and then why it gives around 5 should it go all the way to 0-1 or no boost at all ;

Can you hear a difference in boost Pressure. If it sounds weak then it could be a hose. If the sounds doesn't change maybe it is your gauge or a connection to it.
