Ok, I'm not even going to post this in the "Holy-er than thou" forum...



What is it with the 3rd gen fuel filter? Why does it seem that people like to replace it every so often? Does it suck ***? Is it just a preventative measure? Paranioa? I mean... I understand the Downpipe, Radiator, AST and all that other ****...



Reason I ask...



I've had 4 or 5 cars that have gone OVER 200k and never touched the FF. I ran the shittiest possible gas I could find in them; nothing but 87-89... and the filter never failed. We run the best, cleanest gas in these cars, and people freak over the fuel filters.

clogged fuel filters will lower your fuel pressure...bad for cars who need lots of fuel, especially if your highly modded. It suck *** trying to change out the stock one.

not a dumb question at all! The dumb thing would have been to never ask...

 

we change them and they usually have stuff in them, but plugged? not really

and there are only 2 dumb questions, i dont remember the other one, but

if you carpeted florida how long would it take to vacuum?

do those aftermarket "high flow" fuel filters ever make a difference? Would u ever really need it??

 

nope, but it's nice to move the stock one out of where it is and to a location that's WAY more accessable.

 

Nice thing about the aftermarket ones is their size. Way easier to tuck one of those away in the engine compartment than the bigass oem one.

 

just dont buy a cheap aftermarket one, ive had 2 (on 1st gens) that rust out internally and plug themselves

Buy a K&N aftermarket one, I did and it is in the best location possible now.
