I would personally look in to it more, you don't want to spend almost 20k on this car and in another 2 months, drop another 6k for another engine etc..

Oh god please let the car blow up before this kid gets to it.

4rotor- Just buy a honda and drive that for a while. Then think about an FB or SA 7 not an FD. If you have no more money after buying the car you will loose it in one or two months. I have one thing to buy about every month on my FC and its and N/A!!! With an FD you will be spending more than that way more. I personally have started to do oil changes every 2k miles and plug changes every 6k. You should be doing reliability mods right off the bat. That will also drain your cash. Have you even gotten a quote on insurance yet? I would suggest full coverage and nothing less for an FD. Parts are not cheap by any means. Your still a kid like me I would not trust myself with an FD. I just feel sorry for any RX-7 you buy.

Van, 10-20 grand, are you trying to scare the kid? I know you know better.
What do you think Igy $20 says this kid hasn't learned that much about the rx7. He's willing to learn(it seems to me) but is interested in "Flash", not "Fast". I spent a lot of money just getting the car to be reliable. Then I spent some more making it more reliable. Then I spent some more making it even more reliable. Then I spent some money making it fast.

sure he could. He'd have to pull the engine and put in a stock FD wiring harness. Do you think he can pull that off? It's not hard at all, but if you've never worked with the FD before, it's not easy...that's for sure.
