Hi,

I bought my Rx-7 like 2 months before the winter.. so i had the pleasure of rolling in the stock Rx-7 (which is a sweet sweet car).

So heres my question, i've got this 93 Rx-7 automatic. This year, i was thinking of installing a new exhaust line from the downpipe to a high flow cat. Then i was thinking of replacing the Air box by a Apex or HKS intake system, a greedy elbow with Bov flange + BoV and either a FMIC or a big SMIC (and also what do you guys think is best between the 2s). Also since i was having a C-west N1 kit installed i was thinking of getting the motor out and have paint the car to a different color. While the motor would be out i was also thinking about a street port.

My question is, will i have to change the ECU between one of those steps or not? Because some say that is it is best to change the ECU after 3 modification.. Also if thats the case, i was thinking of going with the Apex'i power FC + commander... but will it support the automatic transmission?

Between the intake, IC, Downpipe, HF Cat, and a catback you will definately need an ecu, as well as a boost controller. Without the IC you might be able to get away with the stock ecu and a boost controller. That's a big maybe though.
