I don't know if it was addressed or not...just skimmed thread...but your radiator looks like it might heatsoak the **** out of you IC. Might want to think about an IC sprayer.

just a thought

I thought of that...

I also thought of the fact that every IC application is going to heatsoak to some extent.

V-Mount: The IC is above the radiator. Heat rises.

S-Mount: THe IC sits UNDER the hood, and above the radiator.

FMIC like this. Partially under hood and near radiator.

A true FMIC will see the lease amount of heatsoak, however will block most air from the Radiator.

Every application has it's ups and downs and to be quite honest with you, I don't thing there is a real "WIN" situation. Even the most perfect application will have it's faults.

For the most part, this car will be moving, therefore ruling out most heatsoak. This IC leavs more room for air to get to the rad than any other. I think I'll be fine. Even if I do soak a bit, upon forward movement I'll drop temps quickly.

I'm also installing water injection.

I got beat to death on the other forum by all the "know it alls". Heatsoak this, move this, do that... blah blah blah.. I guess all the fancy IC piping with a 1400.00 intercooler won't heatsoak or have pressure drop?

Thanks for the input DUB, I'm not arguing with ya! You're a hundred percent right, I'm just venting!!

But the fans are on, and almost all the heat from the radiator is vented away from the IC so it does not heat soak by means of radiation from the radiator.

And it does not block air to the radiator.

Another really good benefit is the thermal differential of the air going over the radiator. The greater the difference of temperature the more effective the cooling capacity will be for a heat exchanger.

On a front mount the hot air ejected from the front mount IC ie Greedy flows directly over the radiator causing it to be less effective for a given amount air flow.

Only down sides I see to it are price and clutter

Even if the fans are on and it's pulling air away... There is still a **** ton of heat under the hood (unless of course there is a vented hood) And at the closest point (At the V) there is bound to be heatsoak... It's no further apart than my setup.

My original argument was in defense of MY setup, much as you are defending the V-mount. People said that my setup will heatsoak because the IC is close to the radiator... Blah. If the fans are on, it's pulling that heat away from the IC and pulling cool air through it. All my ducting is specifically done to make sure it works like that.

My setup DOES block the radiator some, and the V-mount doesnt. No argument there! I've done some ductwork to fight the adverse affects of my setup...

I was merely stating a few facts of any setup.

Without the rad fans on in a V mount setup... There's going to be heatsoak. My setup is similar.

SMIC will heatsoak with the rad fans ON because location (Which I guess could be battled with a fan on the IC, but I seriously think there is only SO MUCH air we can move under our hoods!

Whatever the case may be... If this DOESN'T work, even with WI and or a sprayer. I'll ******* buy something else!!!

It really sucks having so little room to work in the front of this darn car... I guess I could always get a different front end too...
