i need a rotor and rear rotor housing, to get my engine back together. ive found a good deal on a set of rotors and housings. $1000 for brand new FD ported housings, 88 rotors, and brand new 3mm racing seals. the rotors are from a 88 and are milled for 3mm seals. i dont really want to get into whats better 3mm or 2mm. im buying the parts because i already needed one rotor, rotor housing, and seals, and it seems like a good chance to get 2 new housings along with new seals.
my question is, what has to be done in order to use the 88 rotors in the FD engine? do i have to change both counter weights? im going to be using the stock flywheel. ive talked to one person that said i wouldnt have to change anything unless i change my flywheel. any insight will be helpfull. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/dunno.gif thanks, brad |
also. will my old eccentric shaft work with the different rotors?

you need the front counter wieght and the rear counter wieght from the 88, or you could take the rotors and you counter wieghts and have them balanced

personally i'd use FD rotors......

the fc rotors are also lower compression so you have to run more boost, and its gonna lag off boost.

FD rotors are lighter too. i noticed a big difference just revving and building boost.... you don't want to goto older technology. FC rotors and 3mm seals..............

thanks for the quick replies fellahs.
mike: i already need a new rear counter weight. so if i do get the 88 rotors, ill just buy the front and rear counter weights. is that all that should be changed? vosko: yea, ive read about the disadvantages of the older rotors. but i need a rear rotor housing and rotor. and i figured $1000 to get everything would be a good way to go. the housings are brand new, and already ported and have the water jacket mod. well, i guess this is kinda a opinion question. but, should i just stick with my old front rotor housing and rotor, and by a new rear housing rotor, then sitck with new 2mm seals? which would probally cost me more than the above mentioned parts. decsions, decsions! thanks again, brad p.s. i love this forum :bigthumg: |
i would buy the fc rotors and fd housings, and sell the fc rotors and buy a new/good fd rotor

mike,
sounds like a plan. :bigthumg: |
mike has the right idea. i'm gonna make his title "Idea Man" https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
