F*cked Up Air Pump
So I was driving home from work today and all of the sudden my car starts smoking... I smelt it.. and it smelt like belt. So I was a block away from my girlfriends house and stopped there to be engulfed in belt smoke. opened the hood and the belt was really messed up. I thought "no big deal...belts are easy" so I drove the car about a quarter mile to my house after picking up my girl (with no belt on by the way). Well I took my dad's truck up to auto zone and picked up a belt for 6 bucks and then went home and replaced it...well I got everything back together and tensioned the belts back up put the IC pipes back on and cranked it up.....well the loudest squealing noise I've ever heard came from my car. So I looked at the pulleys and the air pump and the alternator weren't spinning. So I messed with it for a while (car off, btw) and everything was spinning fine. So I tried it again and it did the same crap and then I unplugged the wires above the air pump and it ran fine (just smelt like a old V8) and actually ran alot smoother. I knew something was wrong with it because it was making wierd noises for a while. Soo....any advice on what I should do?? Just remove it and say **** it and buy the greddy pulley's?? or just leave it unplugged and roll?
will that mess anything up? is my car supposed to smell like exhaust so bad? also it kind of smokes now...well not really smoke just like it's running really rich. my pfc is tuned to what I got so it shouldn't be that bad.
People with your air pump removed...does yours smell bad too?
Thanks alot.

Yeah it smells bad and it soots up your rear end.....if you plan on keeping your cat it won't be long before that's fucked up too.....
If you want to keep the emissions stuff I suggest you hit up some other 3rdgen owners - there's lots who have airpumps laying around in the garage...

btw doesn't the power fc make your car fail emissions anyways?? guess I'll just do it anyways, seems like that thing is a waste of space. course I gotta keep it in there for now til I get the greddy pulleys.
I keep upgrading crap I haven't planned on yet...damn you stock **** prices!
(aftermarket is cheaper than stock)

Bra,
I've got the HF cat. If you don't keep the air pump on it, it will meet the same misreable demise.... It'll get blocked up eventually, however the 3" HF cat will probably last a lot longer than the OEM.
GEB.
PS. I passed emissions here in TX with the HF cat, intake, CB, PFC, DP, Pettit unlimited ECU, etc, etc,.......

Yep,
Started out with the Pettit 3 years ago and upgraded to the PFC this year.....didn't even realize I had mentioned both of them....the late nite brew-doggies...
Funny side note - I've got the 9.5lb flywheel and the ACT 6 puck clutch. The kid at the emissions testing place kept on stalling it trying to get her up onto the wheel dyno....I even offered to do it, but customers are not allowed to drive vehicles up onto the dyno. After the 5th attempt the kid got so embarrassed and was taking such a razzing by the other shop employees that he just did the stationary test on my car without putting it on the dyno....I'd be curious to see what the emissions looked like under load...

hey your right... I forgot they don't even test it at idle ( I don't think) I think it's like 15 mph and 25 mph....I'll just have my friend do it and keep it in first. Hmm.. will it foul a midpipe?? cause I can just adjust my pfc for it. Need to get those apex silencers too..damn..
