i dropped the tranny in the FD today. its a 93 touring.



theres this huge steel or aluminum beem going down the center of the car. looks like it could hold up a 10 story building. it goes from the rear of the tranny to the diff.



do i need this beam in there? do R1's have this?????

thats the powerplant frame... all fds have em..

is it really needed?...i never seen one of these on other cars. seems like extra weight to me.

i have the Banzai-racing diff brace. and plan on getting the mazdaspeed (or identical) tranny brace.



so would this still be needed???

that "bar" is basically your trans and diff mounts.



think about not having your trans/diff mounted to the car.



plus, as the name implies, it assists in planting the power to the ground, aka powerplant frame.
