i dropped the tranny in the FD today. its a 93 touring.
theres this huge steel or aluminum beem going down the center of the car. looks like it could hold up a 10 story building. it goes from the rear of the tranny to the diff. do i need this beam in there? do R1's have this????? |
thats the powerplant frame... all fds have em..
|
is it really needed?...i never seen one of these on other cars. seems like extra weight to me.
|
leave it off and see how you like it.

sarcasm or not...cant tell i have the Banzai-racing diff brace. and plan on getting the mazdaspeed (or identical) tranny brace. so would this still be needed??? |
that "bar" is basically your trans and diff mounts.
think about not having your trans/diff mounted to the car. plus, as the name implies, it assists in planting the power to the ground, aka powerplant frame. you're a funny guy. kevin. |
leave it on. i wished i could find a close up pic of the one used in the apexi drift fd.
|
i guess ill leave it in then.
just never seen these on any other car, other than an FD... |
miata's have them, i know of an american car that has it too but i cant remember which it is
|
