I am going to remove my engine and transmission in a few weeks. I need to move the car after the engine and trans are out. Will I damage the differential by not having it supported by a jack while I move the car?

 

someone might want to correct me being i come from the land of solid rear axles.(1st gens) i think the diff is mounted in a fixed position. it may allow for slight play, but not that it would prevent you from moving the car around.

 

It will hang slightly. But, no you will not damage it without it being on a jack. I even towed my car while the engine and tranny was out.

 

you won't damage anything, but you will be putting alot of weight and stress on the allready fragile diff mount bushings. I would suggest proping it up somehow. just my .02

 

I will put a jack under it when I get it moved. I just didn't know if I could move it without the ppf.
