well, with my new msd ignition thingies that i got, i was looking to relocate the coils. is this a good idea. i mean, i would actually be lengthening the distance that the spark has to travel, and at first it seems good, but the more that i think about it, i wonder....

have any of you done this?

and...vosko, i know you will read this, where did you mount your msd boxes.....you have a relocated battery right?

show me a pic...

My mechanic has a crane motorcycle leading and stock trailing coils mounted on the finder side neer the master cyl. this involved reworking the wireing harness and moving it around. While the harness was apart he replaced the alternator wire with welding cable. the spark plug wires are shorter and can be changed in seconds. The coils will be cooler and the motor will get more air in that area. Win win win , all around. It took some time and thought , tape and wire wrap .

my factory coils are moved to the drivers side rail. my MSD boxes are mounted in front of the engine on the cross bar. if nothing else you can use FC spark plug wires :bigthumg:

so, would it still be beneficary for me to move the coils. the length of the plug wire would not matter, right? and IF i were to go with an aftermatket coil, would i just use a MSD blaster like coil, or os there something else that i need to worry about.....if you knwo the exact name of an item, let me know....

thanks,

louis
