How tricky is getting to the clutch, say to install a new slave cylinder? I had an FC owner tell me I shouldn't try to do it myself, should only let a very qualified rx7 mechanic handle something that in-depth, is that true? If not, what are the dangers and difficulties I'd face?

Not that difficult.

You just need a triple jointed arm with 10 inch fingers.

Or a hoist and get at it from underneath with a long extension.

You may be able to get it from above, but never attempted so don't know.

Have fun and remember to thank the Lord (or whoever is applicable) for making you a car-nut every time you rip the skin off your knuckle!

its not that hard..but a lift helps a lot..

also getting the bell housing bolts is nothing. What most people dont know about the little plate on the right side of the bell houseing that you have to remove..and then unbolt the pressure plate from the flywheel thru that hole. It sounds harder than it really is. The throw-out bearing locks in to the pressure plate.. due to the clutch being a pull type and not a puch. so the only way to get it off is by removal of the pressureplate from the flywheel

Ah, thanks for the pressure plate unbolting tip--and I will be renting a lift for the job, since I've never gotten any super-streching powers from cosmic radiation or anything.

And I'll bring along some band-aids, andy
