The FD gave me problems today. It ran awesome last night.

I started this afternoon and it was idiling really rough and white smoking, it doesn't normally smoke except for a puff or two. It stalled out once in the parking lot, so I shut it down and left it be.

This evening I went back to it to spend some more time with it. It stalled twice more in the parking lot. I got about .5 miles down the road and it ran really poorly at any RPM above 1500. When I pushed the clutch in so that I could slow down and turn around it died, then wouldn't start back up.

I got a friend w/ a Mercedes turbo diesel to tow me back home.

I talked with my FD mechanic friend briefly. He's thinking because of the rough running above 1500 RPM it's either the CAS or MAPS. I'm leaning toward CAS. I'll have time tomorrow to work on it, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had ideas.

At his advice I'll hook up a Haltech laptop to it to see if any of the sensors aren't sending a signal.

Any other ideas are greatly appreciated.

Can't get the Haltech to connect. What's the proper connection procedure? The manual says supply power and connect.. that's it. I only got the software to connect once tonight, and I'm not sure what I did differently. Any ideas?

Kevin,

Try wiggling the Haltech main connection plug abit. I had some problems with it before. Never smoked though. I bet thats the problem, and thats why the software will not load.

All you do is plug it in and turn it on. Load the software and pick online or something like that...make sure the key is turned forward. Sorry your having trouble man. Get the software working, if it shows 0 on the temps and other sensors...then its the plug on the ECU.
