LOL! I think he said no overlayed junk

To be honest with you, you are NOT going to find a REAL pre preg CF dash for less than 1/2 of what your car is worth.... or maybe even more than your car.. Prepreg CF is what you are thinking of as "REAL" CF, which most supercar and aerospace use. It requires, not just a mold and resin.. it requires an autoclave that will heat and pressurize. Its this process that makes so called steel hard and lightweight of CF.. Otherwise, and I'm sure other expert in CF will agree, CF and FG share very similar property.. And the CF needs to be layered in certain pattern and certain number of layers to be effective.. Seriously, if you are looking for REAL CF stuff, you'll be driving something else..

My suggestion.. Depend on your application... Unless you are some hard core racer looking to edge out the competition and you know that 1lb of weight you will save will win you that race, its not worth it.. Having so call "Real" CF inside of your car is complete waste of money as it serves no other purpose except maybe saving 1lb or 2.. which if you want to save weight, you could approach it in much less expensive method.. ie, loosing some weight yourself.. But most people get CF parts because it looks cool.. I'm not gonna lie and say I'm not one of those people.. I am.. But at least I know what I'm doing and know what the difference is.

If you are really serious about this, I know a guy in Aussie that does some CF custom work. He doesn't use prepreg, but makes great stuff! Also very expensive! Or you could try to make it yourself.. But weight difference of plastic/vinyl and CF/resin, you are not going to save that much! It will be different if you are replacing some sort of Metal to CF..

thanks for the info I just want it for the look aspect definetly not weight as the fd plastic center console and adjacent plsatic peices. I use to work for a porsche dealership and I rember seeing a few 996 body style 911 turbo's that had a very nice cf interior console and scuff plates and I thought that I would look into making some myself as far as building my own I'm not comfortable with my limited skills with interior work. but If you know of a wrap that looks like the real deal or something of that nature at a reasonable price let me know. thanks

Alex,

Definitely Not with a guy named Sonix7 (Jason Evans, aka CarbonfiberInnovations)!

there is a long thread on the 'other' forum.

I also believe there are several companies that offer overlaying on the internet. But its not too hard, just need little practice. I've done few pieces on my car and turned out ok. If you have space and time, you could totally do it on your own... I need to finish my overlaying but I don't have ton of time.. But it will eventually get done.. And there is no better satisfaction knowing you learned a new skill!

Also, don't believe the hype about being strong and such! Overlaying CF is just that.. Overlaying CF.. Its no different from FG and those who BS and tell you otherwise don't know crap!! And vacuum bagging and such doesn't make much difference on overlaying neither.

Good luck! Do a google search and you will find ton of info.. I looked into this 3-4 years ago and learned quite a bit!
