The water temp sensor for engine control is pin 3E, it's green /white.

Print the manual, biznitch! It's only 2X 2" binders double sided!
So, the temp sensor on the filler neck goes to pin 3E. RIGHT where the scanned manual has a wrinkle on the page.. Can someone post a clean one? I just don't wan't ANY more **** ups!!

I REALLY appreciate all the help!

I did print it. And it fell victim to a huge *** Illinois style gust of wind.. I had JUST brought it home from work too......

Here is the wiring diagram.

If you can snap a jpg someone here can confirm.

I am not sure WHERE the sensor is located on the waterpump/filler tube/thermostat housing, and the shop manual has crappy drawings. The one thing that makes me worry about your quote is that I don't think the correct sensor is all that easy to get to. The manual starts out its section on testing the coolant sensor by saying "remove the extension manifold". That sounds to me like you would have to remove the UIM before you could pull the sensor. If so, I would guess the sensor is on the back of the waterpump/filler tube/thermostat housing or on the block behind the waterpump/filler tube/thermostat housing. I have never had the pleasure of having to deal with one of these so, I don't know much about where they sit. I just want to be sure you know which sensor is which before you jumper it into the ecu.

Jeff,

The temperature sensor is on the front of the filler neck housing.. under the hose for the AST. (Unless I am mistaken, and that is the level sensor? ..but I think its the temp).. anyway, it's all out there by itself. Its the easiest sensor to unplug.. Maybe the manual is talking about where it connects into the harness? The plug is on the front of the filler neck, then there is like 6 inches of wire, with a slip connector.. that connector is connected to a wire that goes under the manifold and into the harness somewhere (at another connector). The wire is initially black with little brown turds on it.. I guess at that second connection in the harness it changes to the g/w?

Sorry if I'm confusing.. THis is some hard **** to explain!! Again, I appreciate your help!!

Nope, that's what I was afraid of. What you are describing sounds to me to be the coolant level sensor. Little roundish hexagonal type thingee about 3/8-1/2 inch in diameter with a black rubbery covering and one black(ish) wire coming out of it. That is the damnable thing that unless it is connected or directly grounded will drive you crazy with the warning buzzer. At the end of the black wire there is a white (yellowed with age) nylon slip connector that connects to another black wire via a connector between the two and located just on top of and to the left of the alternator (if you are looking at the engine from the front.

That sensor does not go to the ECU.

on the oposite side of the level sensor there are two sensors, one ontop of the other....

Ahhh.. Ok. Then my LEVEL sensor is not plugged in. So, where the hell does THAT damn thing connect? One of the harnesses in the car I'd guess.. DAMN

Oh, the lower of the 2 plugs Keith mentions is NOT connected. It's the Black wire, red stripe. The damn wire broke RIGHT at the plug, so I need to get another one.. That's the thermosensor right? The one I need to connect? Thanks YET AGAIN!

Does anyone know if the water thermosensor (shown here and according to the schematics runs the fan relays) is the same as the Coolant temp sensor (shown in the next post and connects to the ecu via the G/W wire?
