Take it to some place shop that can test to see if the exhaust gas temperature is the same going into the cat as coming out. If it is the same the cat is doing nothing and you need a new one.

Thanks for the help guys. By the way CowsniperRX7 have you thought about a N-TECH downpipe and a Bonez cat? The Bonez cat is supposed to be tailored just for the RX-7 and the high temps it produces. You can read up and buy it at RX-7.com. I've been doing a lot of reading and I think thats the set up I'm going with. If anybody out there differs feel free to say so, please.

You should not need to upgrade the ignition untill you are beyong 20 psi boost. Race plugs maybe, but ignition amps are not needed. I have a brand new ATR cat I could sell you for $280

The ATR is just as good in quality. KD Rotary likes to use them. Stainless steel, direct bolt on, 3 inch throughout. Even has the pipe so you can hook up the air pump tube. $280 brand new from me vs like $500 for the Bonez.

How will it be for a CA smog test? She passed before with the stock intake and ECU. Now that I have the larger injectors and can't use the stock ECU, I liked the fact that the Bonez unit was carb legal with the Pre Cat installed. Since I have a full service garage at my disposal I don't mind the work. Is there anything like that with the ATR? I mean Voskos right 200 bucks is 200 bucks!
