Really.....

I wonder if the upgrade creates the same amount of power as if you upgraded the stock twins.

I've heard very very bad things about BNRs from very reputable people...

mike
Okay now I am confused? Why is that?

And what is the difference between the BNR's and Pettits Upgraded Twins?

And I still want to know if BNR can upgrade the 99spec twins or is this pointless? [/quote]

i dunno why exactly, but they always start leaking oil

OK, i just spoke w/ 3 people who said the BNR's they got were ****. One got a cracked housing back, after they charged for a new housing, second guy said the burbine was installed backwards, so from there perspective they have an attention to detail problem.
Well, they ALL will get cracked turbine manifolds back cause like all rebuilt turbos they reuse your manifolds/housings. The ONLY way to get uncracked ones is to buy new turbos. Now the only thing I can think of is if someone bought them from the rx-7store.net cause Jason keeps them in stock. When he gets your core he turns around and sends you out a different set right then..... so you dont actually get your housings back. I guess its possible someone sent a set to the RX7store and got back a set that had worse cracks than thiers originals. However, anywhere else you get them from be it direct from BNR or thru GothamRacing.com you get the same housing back....If yours is damaged beyond repair he's prob just sell you a decent used one or repair it for cheap.

Anyway, they ALL have cracks unless they are new, mine had TONS of cracks at 30K miles. If they dont go past the gasket (which they normally dont) then its going to be fine.

As for the second guy saying the turbine was installed backwards......THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE. He is wrong.

I've seen MANY set leave BNR and they pay very close attention to them....they even sand blast everything so that it looks basically new again.

By the way, I'm not going to say that its beyond them to make a misstake cause everyone screws up sometimes BUT, its the way the problems are handles that makes the difference....I think you'll find Brian to be very good about taking care of his customers and doing anything possible (within reason of course) to make them happy. He likes for everyone to be happy with his turbos.

My rebuilt set lasted about 30k miles. I think BNR & M2's upgrade/rebuilds are too new to know the longevety yet. My 2nd turbo is toast which is typical running sequential. BNR recomends parallel for their stage 3 rebuild. M2 recomends sequential. If you want new, the '99 ver is about the same price as the '95 and M2's. BNR's are about $1k less.

Stephan thans for info. I spoke with the guy again, I did hear him wrong he said the washer or spacer we wrong on one of the turbines, and had to take it apart and fix. Anyway I still have my stock set on w/ 50k. Funnything is i went to a dyno last week and my car was very strong comparitively so i am really thinking about the future.

so since have a lot friends that go to Japan all the time woudl be cheaper for them to pick up a 99spec turbo and bring it back for me?
