I have been thinking about doing this for a while, and have done some preliminary work to see if it would even fit. the initial research hasnt shown anything to be impossible.

has anyone done this before?

Any comments?

have fun with that, the rx8 paddle shifer is all electric where as the rx7 tanny is cable. if you can figure out how to snake the tcm out the rx8 and wire it all in then good for you.

Yikes! Also, how does the paddle shifter work? Does it controlled thru the RX8 ECU and how would you intergrate into an FD?

personaly i think it would be cheaper to buy an rx8 or buy a sequncial gear box with a paddle shifter set up then it would be to convert an fd to a paddle shifter.

i was planning to buy a rx8 AT and tranny ecu, steering wheel etc and retrofit to my fd.

I wouldn't even begin to screw with the AT already there....

(looks like a winter 07 project. i'll just go hide in the warehouse til it is done.)

I have an automatic trans. 300zx and a friend showed me a kit on twinturbo.net that allows for paddle shifters. Im not sure if theres a kit for the Fd but I would imagine it would be similar and could be done. Ill try to look for it, but i would just search on twinturbo.net for paddle shifters or something related if i were you.
