Sounds like an electrical issue on the ignition side. What do your plugs look like when you pull them?

Yea sounds like a ignition issue of some sort which is also what the tachometer indicates. The tach was out on my AE when I bought it, it ended up being a ground issue, it's been a while but it was on the drivers side near the coil packs. Repaired the ground and the tach worked and the car ran great. I would give a quick look for the grounds in the ignition area.

Yea it's quite possible it will. Thats what finally fixed my 3800 rpm stumble on my vert. (actually was the SAFC, but same concept)
