anyone know how good they are, and does anyone use them on their car? and how hard is it to install?

helihansen 12-24-2003 06:39 PM

I have heard that they are problematic. I use a stock tt supra pump and it actually flows more. You can get them from a kid in ca at a REALLY good price. Pm me if youre interested.

turbovr6 12-24-2003 06:44 PM

I have one for over 2 years, no problems, I know abou 10 guys in my area that have them, no problems either

jspecracer7 12-25-2003 07:04 AM

I know both IGY and Dragon run twin walboro pumps and have had no problems. I know for a fact that IGY's twin walboro's have been on running cars for over 4+ years without any problems whatsoever. A TON of the people here(japan) run them and have had no problems either.

AgentSpeed 12-25-2003 07:20 AM

So how hard are they to install?

twinturborx7pete 12-25-2003 09:37 AM

not hard, just have to splice wires.. doesn't have a stock connection.. have to also attach it to the basket and the little filter thingy as well... isn't that hard to install.. just make sure its completely stable and tight in the bracket.. or you will run into problems.

isamu 12-25-2003 09:45 AM

Here is a page with a pretty detailed installation of a Walbro in a 2nd gen. Its pretty easy like the others said. http://www.vfaq.com/mods/RX7pump.html

I love the hell out of them and I've had duals in my car now for 3 1/2 years with zero problems. I also ran a single one before that for 2 years with zero problems. I've also put a bunch in customer’s cars and have yet to see one fail. You need to hook it up to run a constant 12v if you run duals and I would still recommend running it constant 12v with a single one as well. 90% of the crap you hear about them is from people who don't know what they are talking about or didn't hook them up correctly or are Honda guys trying to run 100psi of fuel pressure to compensate for trying to run boost with stock injectors. It's all bullshit.

Ok, I'm done now... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

How'd you wire it for a constant 12v? Any easy trick to it or do you run wires from the battery?

7mech 12-25-2003 12:37 PM

Where did you get the braket for the dauls?

with a relay. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

RX7 RAGE 12-25-2003 01:25 PM

I also have a walbro pump in my fd with no problems whatsoever.

jakew131 12-25-2003 06:44 PM

thanks i'm going to order one, how much hp do all the guys with the walbros have?

Dragon 12-25-2003 10:17 PM

I'd say to be Super Safe a max 400 hp with a single and up to 650+ with dual pumps (we haven't found the limit yet). But I'd run duals now because then you'll have enough fuel for anyting thing you'll ever need to do in the future.

jakew131 12-25-2003 11:43 PM

how would i go about wiring up a duel set-up?

Fd3BOOST 12-25-2003 11:44 PM

I also have one in my gas tank.

I never had any problems with it.

Install was pretty simple aswell.

Dragon 12-26-2003 05:42 AM

The easiest way is to pull the relay out of the black box on top of the radiator (the fuel pump one). pop the black top off it and bend the little metal thingy so that the relay contact points stay connected all the time. Then just put the cap back on and plug it back in.. Walla 12v all the time.. if sombody want's to pop the top off and take a pic and post it I'll modify it and show you where to bend it at.

93 R1 12-26-2003 10:21 AM

sweet like tits

9BASE3 12-27-2003 01:18 PM

I'm interested in seeing a wiring setup for the duals.. I've heard you can jumper the second off the first, but have also heard NOT to do that... Comments?

AgentSpeed 12-27-2003 07:55 PM

Also, did you run all new fuel lines as well (from the tank on)?

Dragon 12-27-2003 08:19 PM

You can wire them parallel off the stock wires in the tank and also T both fuel pump in to one line and use the stock fuel lines... This should be good to 500ish. If you want more then I would run separate fuel lines so you can move a larger volume of fuel and run one fuel pump to each fuel rail and T them back together in the FP Reg and run one return line back. This is how mine is hooked up. I use the stock fuel line and the stock return line to feed both fuel rails. One pump hooked up to each. Then out of the fuel rails to the Aeromotive FPR. Then I removed the charcoal canister in the rear of the car and flushed that line out and used it as the return line to the rear. You will need to get a bulk head fitting and hose to run from the charcoal canister line that ends near the diff and run it up to the gas tank and to the bulkhead fitting you install. Inside the tank, be sure to run another short hose from the bulk head fitting down in to the bottom of the tank. If you don't do this the return fuel will splash into the tank and put air bubbles in the fuel. This is bad.

9BASE3 12-27-2003 09:32 PM

Awesome explanation Dragon. Thanks!

Dragon 12-27-2003 09:40 PM

any time.. as long as I have time.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

rx7tt95 12-30-2003 11:08 PM

Chris,

You really think the stock wiring can handle two pumps? I'm about to install a second Walbro in my tank to be on the safe side with new 850 primaries. I plan on teeing them together into one line for now. Someone had a pic of two Walbros arranged that way a while back, was that your pic?

I would like more info on this. Are you talking about bending the relay contat points or actual points on the black box. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png

93 R1 12-31-2003 07:12 AM

relay contacts

rx7tt95 12-31-2003 07:58 AM

I'll try to take a pic today.

Dragon 12-31-2003 08:38 AM

take the pic of the contact points side.. and I'll edit the pic. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

rx7tt95 01-01-2004 05:58 PM

I'll go pull the fuse now and pop it open. Be back with images in a flash...

One other question though...running a constant 12+V, can this lead to premature pump failure or idle issues?

Ok, how about five images? Wasn't sure which would show the view you needed Chris, so here's a few.

I'm assuming I have the right one...it's on the far right, correct? I've lost the top cover to my relay box over the radiator :-)

Looking at the relay, there seems to only be one area you could be talking about. I've circled it in this image. This is what you're referring to, correct?
