Well the lines are all made, I didn't get a chance today to get them all tightened up and seat the injectors. But the most of it's all set. One quick question about the three lines from the firewall. Does it matter which I use as a feed and which I use for the return. Also the third line I leave as a vent correct?
Thanks Keith and Justiin for pointing me in the right direction. I appreciate it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif |

Oh one last question aside from the other last question I had.
Keith, do I need to put the resistors in the lines with the injector clips? Are my new injectors low impedance? |
you want the return line connected to the hose coming from the bottom of the FPR.
Keith didnt inclue the resistors in the kit? |

Any one wanna write up a step by step with pics? Or is there one allready out there?
|
Dave,
Bad choice of mounting on the FPR. rule is it must be 6in from firewall. also, i would personaly have run it away from the exhaust side of the car.... other than that, looks like you are making progress. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png did you check that straight coming off the rear of the primary.... may not be enough clearance with injector inplace |

Ok. I'll trace them back. Someone wanna point out which is which?
return left charcole canister center (top) feed right (looking from the front of the car) |

Well that sucks considering that means I just wasted $60 in line and most likely $100 in fittings that wont work when I have to re route everything. I did consider mounting it away from the hot side of teh engine bay but could not come up with a clean mounting point. Why must it be 6" away from the firewall? I did check the lines with injectors and they do all clear even the one you mention. Well i would like to know why i need to move it before I dump another $100 into this $1100 fuel system that just keeps getting more expensive. And I wonder why I ask a thousand questions! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.png
I was gonna say somethin about the fuel routed over the exhaust...but figured it was too high to make a real difference. |
Well if it's just a lame drag racing rule I am not too worried about it. I also had just planned on wrapping the DP so i didn't really think the hot side of the engine would be all that bad, but hey i'll see if i can come up with somthing else.

now you see why i offer the pre-done kits. over time i dont even want to think about how much i persoanly have wasted on fittings that i *thought* i needed, cant use, whatever....
not saying anything about you Dave, but the people that complain (you didnt) the most about the entire system price for something like you are trying to put together are always the ones who also come back and say... "DAMN! i should have just had you make everything for me... it would have saved me a month of figuring it out and $200 (or whatever they wasted) on the whole thing"... |

I still could use soem more clarification on the exact identification of the feed/return lines. I will use Bobbys advice but since I have already removed the hardlines it's hard to tell which was which. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif |
i cant remember off the top of my head and i dont have a manual near me. i know its in the manual around f-94 to f119 or something like that. the one closest to the driver side of the car is the canister one if memory serves.... sorry, if you dont figure it out, i will check lter today for you.

Dave,
I'm almost positive the answer is in one of my threads as I asked the same thing.. along with the 6 inch from firewall thing..(Sorry, I didn't think to even bring it up..) Unfortunately searching posts with my name and fuel anywhere in the criteria will land you half the fuggin 3rd gen section LOL.. I'll keep looking. J |

Oh, and FYI:
Eric (Cheatham) has been running the FPR on the firewall for like 5 years and never got hassled about it and he drag races all the time. Could be different elsewhere, just thought I'd share. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png |

Yeah, I wanted it to be as clean as possible under the hood so I routed the passenger side brake line along the rear of the engine subframe and up and under the brake booster. It's very hard to see.

Then you forgot to move the fan relays down into the bumper.

RE FPR mounting: I went through this in Oct. The aren't many options. I removed my stock pulsation damper so I wanted to keep the SX regulator as close to the rails as possible to take advantage of its pulsation damping qualities (although I'm not sure how useless this is when it's not positioned between the rails).
Initially I was thinking of putting it in front of the manifold, but decided against this because I didn't feel comfortable putting a fuel source right behind the alternator. (alternator sparks and fuel vapors don't mix :-p). Plan B was behind the manifold, but as others have noted NHRA requires it to be 6 inches away from the firewall. Finally, I ended up mounting it where everyone else seems to-the driver side shock tower. Aside from the extra line length the other downside to this location is it makes getting to the spark plugs and oil filter even more of a pita. In the end though it's the lesser of evils. RE injector gromets: Dave Newbern makes a great injector spacer kit for the Bosch 1680s. http://dave.newbern.org/rx7/Injector...tor%20bung.jpg As many of you know the diameter of the secondary injector openings in the LIM is larger than the outer diameter of the o-rings on the Bosch 1680cc injectors. http://dave.newbern.org/rx7/Injector.../insulator.jpg Dave’s sleeve provides more support for the o-rings by filling the gap. http://dave.newbern.org/rx7/InjectorBushing/bushing.jpg |
That's kinda neat. And for 25 bucks...i might buy a set to eliminate the insulator...
