First time post. I just got my FD a few days ago and just noticed that the idle seems a bit funny. It jumps around on a cold start. 2k then drops all the way down to 200 then stalls. It also sputters alot. I just dont understand if this is ok with a rotory engine. Never owned one. Once the car warms up it gets a nice 700 ldle and stays. But still sputters. Any ideas if this is ok, and or is it hurting it. Im about to take it to the shop just to get it tuned up and check it out. I just want peace of mind. Could it be fouled spark plugs?

Thanks awaiting replys.

i have a similar problem, but im not sure if its a problem or if this is normal to these cars. I just picked up my first FD a few days ago and when i start it up in the morning the idle jumps up to about 2500 and then after about 30 secs it slowly falls to about 1100 where it stays to be the normal idle. Is this a normal idle or does it seem a buit high. The enging is new and have a little over 1000 miles on it so far. any help is appreciated.

ok. fd's have a built in cycle when the motor is cold it bumps up the idle so that it warms up faster. its really not that great for the motor, but anyway, that explains the increased idle at start up. on my car, on cold start, i just blip the gas pedal and it drops down to normal. if i start the car while it is in a gear(first or reverse) and the idle starts going up, then take it out of gear and let off the clutch, it dies. i dont know about that but it could be helpful for one of you. good luck on your new 7's! You'll have fun, when they run!
