Will you really get any gain from insulating your turbo? and wrapping the turbo exhaust manifold with some anti heat wrapping stuff? LMK guys., thx

Will cut the turbos life short, the heat will have no where to go, just eat up the turbo/manifold.

u should wrap the downpipe, not he turbo

Geoffman72 01-02-2003 03:15 AM

It will eat the downpipe up too. I would make a custom heat shield personally.

My DP has been wrapped for years with no problems...I don't know if it does any good, though.

It should technically keep intake and underhood temps down. My LIM must be dying, ive got nothing down there.

UniqueTII 01-02-2003 04:03 AM

Well, I don't have any heat shields around the turbo, so I'm breaking even at best.

Leetheslacker 01-02-2003 04:08 AM

Maybes its different between turbo and na but on our old beemer it burned a hole in the headers and when it was fixed we wrapped it in heat wrap stuff and it burned another hole.

Jerk_Racer 01-02-2003 10:42 AM

That's exactly what that stuff does. At least for the majority.

Yeah I plan on shielding my Lim, and maybe wrapping my Dp, I know it will kill it but o well. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png its a dp not a 1k turbo https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png Besides its racingbeat there **** is good quality.
