So I pulled out the drivers side engine compartment harness (86 NA) that has battery cables and what not on it. My question is this. I found a plug down on the bottom by what I assume is the low oil level sensor connector. There was nothing in this plug and it was a black (5 bucks says its a ground ) and I'm wondering if this is one of the plugs that goes to the little capacitor boxes that mazda likes to use. Probably every Mazda I've owned has had one of these little guys break the wire, with no apparent ill effects that I've ever noticed. If someone can go look on their car for me that would be appreciated. If if wasn't/isn't a ground wire than I'm not worried about it, if it is than I'd like to fix it seeing as that is why I pulled out the harness in the first place To fix and upgrade grounds that is.

if its with the oil level sensor wire its prolly for the oil temp switch, it lives in the oil pan and its for the cold start assist thing, not all the cars have that, but they all have the wiring

Aren't temp sensors normally two wires? This one is only one black wire. That and mine had the sub-zero system until recently, so any temp sensor down there should still be hooked up.

How about this, if it is a ground, which I'll check for sure today. I'll probably hook it up. What is the purpose of those capacitor boxes that some grounds have, I'm thinking it is was noise suppressor for the radio circuitry, but I've not really been able to verify that. Or maybe J9fd3s is right.....

that one is just a switch, 1 wire. i'm not sure what the capacitors are for, i know theres 1 for the radio, and once for the oil pressure guage, i thiought that was it though?

shouldnt be a ground down there, but who knows whats been done to the car

Well I have a pretty good idea of what's been done to the car. I know the guy before me was an idiot. But that was ten years ago now. I'm just lazy, I've had the car for ten years and I still have the same problems But it hasn't gotten worse at all, maybe the car is waiting for me to fix everything so it can give me a new set of problems

Back to the capacitor thing, where did the radio one connect, I broke it off years ago and I don't remember where it came from.

Thanks, I'll look for where that was when I have some time to burn on Monday or so.

Man I wish there were more dealership guys like you here in TN.

Edit - Oh crap, I didn't realize you were the same guy I talked to about block off plates. I'm still gonna order from you, just need to take care of a couple other things first.

J9d3s - Ok sorry, I'm confused now, you have 2751 as your homepage, I thought you were the guy from there, now I'm not so sure. Sorry for the confusion, if you're not the guy I talked to.
