the wheels, and the seats.

i think im doing the wheels in anthrocite, like my engine parts, they are 3 piece so im going to take them apart.

Im not so sure you can/should take those apart https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif I always thought the center and the rim were assembled at different temps... arg, i forget what that process is called...

Whatever, Just dont ruin some nice wheels.

it would not be my first set of 3 piece wheels I have taken apart, someone put them together so they can be taken apart.

I bought the seats off a forum member, I dont think they are actuall mazdaspeed seats but they seem pretty good, have not installed them yet. One seat is brand new never installed, the other looks brand new, not a mark in it, came with brackets and sliders too.

painted some of my s5 parts, I have brand new fenders and a aluiminum hood to do, while Im at it im going to take the doors off and spray the jambs.

I painted the rest of the s5 molding set just incase I end up not liking the TII skirts on the car.

Rob x-7 02-16-2009 05:24 PM

some of me regrets not painting the engine bay while the motor was out, but I think it looks pretty good for 1988 paint.

sanded and polished all the parts that I painted earlier in the week, this way the orange peel, or rather lack of, will match the rest of the paint on the car. I polished them and stored them safely in the coupe for now as I cant put them on until I get the rest of the car done.

Sanded my aluminum hood that I got to replace the steel hood, I guess I went full circle with the car now, back when I originally painted the car I could not afford a new alum. hood or find a used one, so I put a brand new steel hood on, now its time to go back to aluminum. Im going to cycle this in my friends spray booth so that the primer really gets a chance to cycle hot and cold, block sand it, and re-prime it, block sand it again then paint it.

I also sanded my new fenders, they come with e-coat on them, which you can just scuff and paint right over, but I chose to prime them so that the whole car is refinished identical.

Also modified my front bumper, I used structural urethane to adhere another piece of bumper behind the cut outs, this doubled that area up and will prevent it from warping later on. Cut out some of the lower part as well, I have some really nice stainless steel mesh that I might put in the opening, but I will decide that when I put it on the car after its painted.

Im going to have to put things on a hold for a week or so as I have a big job coming in the shop so I wont have the room to have my junk sitting around, got to pay the bills first- play second. I think the next thing I will do is remove my doors to get rid of the chip guard, and while they are off spray the jambs.

I used DuPont Uro prime as primer, its a urethane primer and its what I originally primed the car with, super stuff.
