whats the widest i can go front and rear for my 89 t2, also how big can i go and still be functional??

i was looking at racing hart cp-035 or cp-035r and wasn't sure if i should go up to 18" b/c the cp-035r only come in 18"

18" look nice but can be a bit overkill depending on the rim and if your car is lowered or not

im not sure exactly how wide my wheels are but the tire size 245/35/17..........they are so wide in the front the only thing I can stick between the rim and spring is literaly a piece of paper. never ever rubs tho!!
