87, no need for anything higher in an N/A. They run better on lower octane gas.

87 octane is what I run. I ran 93 octane once and it didn't really do anything other than put a dent in my wallet

I was told that lower octane is more volatile, is that true? Also, that higher compression engines use higher octane, because they ignite at a higher temperature. So, that would mean that, unless you have a high-performance, high-compression machine, lower octane is actually better, right? Am I close?

I guess the question is how low can you go? Someone told me that they once put 80 in theirs, but they were probably bullshitting me. Nothin but 87 for me.

What about premix? We decided that premixing lowers the octane about 1 point, was it ever decide that 86 was good enough, or should you switch to 89 if you premix (giving a working octane of 88)?
