I think the Haltech will make that resistor obsolete. It only controlls idle mixture so you can just set it like Marcus7 wrote. No real need for a wideband or anything.

weird usually its way over rich, meaning its got a vacuum leak. lean means maybe the 02 sensor is dead?
you try playing with it?
oh and put the wb on it now, but leave the original 02 hooked up, and then you'll know what mixtures to tune too, this will speed things up a lot!

I will try fiddling with the idle this weekend.
Please expand on your statement: "this will speed things up a lot!" How do you mean?

The previous owner or an “unqualified to do anything but change oil” mechanic could have cranked it to the lean setting in order to fix a “flooding problem”. The resistor has nothing to do with starting issues, but when some people hear “flood” they think “running rich”. They also hear that the variable resistor adjusts the A/F ratios. So they could have added 1 plus 1, come up with 37, and cranked the variable resistor all the way lean.
If you follow the previous instructions, you can set it back where it belongs.
