Weight redux won't get him any closer to his goal.
I am thinking in the 1/4 mile frame of mind...Good point.

Doing it NA will be noisy and without nitrous you'll be very non stock and will not be passing emissions without some major changes for the test.

go the old fashioned way. Intake, carb, lightweight flywheel, clutch, dual exhaust. Not sure what this setup runs on a dyno(don't really care), buts its fun to drive and easy to maintain! Good luck.

Now everyone can start carb bashing!

These are some other things that I have thought about doing: Sending out the chip when I get the engine back, getting a header, doing a cold air intake system, getting rid of the air pump, lightweight flywheel, and a better clutch. Any gusses on what I will have for power? Anyone ever done these things before?

Now that the engine will be taken apart, you have the opportunity to gain 60% more power than stock through extend (street) porting and exhaust (header mainly).

Just extend porting my engine and dumping 200 pounds of weight turned my 87 into a decently quick machine, where it was just kind of peppy before. Ported engines take really well to adding exhaust mods, starting with a header (the most important part).

But I thought that you could not street port a RX-7 with the 5th and 6th intake ports, or atleast that was what I was told. How did you get 60% more power out of you engine, just doing the exhaust porting, or the intake and exhaust porting? And if you could tell me exactly what you did with your engine I would greatly appreciate it!

Here is proof that you can street port a six port engine: Mazdaspeed7 has more proof in the forum "rotary engine building and porting"
