Hey guys, I was checking my timing today and leading was dead on at 5 degrees but when I hooked up to the trailing wire, the light would only flash randomly like it wasn't picking up the signal. This happened on both trailing wires. Anyone know why this is? I have 8.5mm MSD wires but like I said the light had no problem getting a signal from the leading coils. Are the trailing coils way lower in voltage output and maybe thats it??

check the trailing plugs, if they're fouled it can cause this.

the trailing ignitor is known to have some problems as well if you replace the coils make sure you replace the ignitor as well.

Ok, the plugs look good as new. How do I go about testing the coils?

The car isn't running much different than ever.

What would be some symptoms if they were not firing at all? Wouldn't it run rough or rich since only the leadings work? Any power loss?

Not too much of a preformance issue if your trailings are not working. They are really only there for smog reasons.

Or at least this is what I was told by a guru
