When accelerating, I have this loud, God-awful vibration buzz in the dash. I've pinpointed down to being the ff, stop/eject, and rew buttons on my stock stereo, but I'm without a clue on how to make it stop. Short of filling it full of gasket maker or getting an aftermartet setup (i have an MP3 player with gigs upon gigs of music, which needs the tape adapter) what would you do to get rid of the noise? It scares little kids and stuff.

most people dont have the stock radio anymore

you can get a really nice cassette player stereo cheap

maybe one with a aux input for your mp3 player, or

a cd with mp3 capability.



if its the buttons themselves I dont know what you can do, but

maybe try removing the radio chassis and bolting it back

up with rubber washers to cushion the chassis from the dash

 

I think that I would probably change out the stock with a new system. Most car CD players have MP3 capabilities now which would eliminate the need for the tape adapter and extra equipment (the MP3 player). Also they are relatively inexpensive and you can get great sound out of them.



If you just have to keep the stock stereo, there may be nothing you can do. It may just be plain worn out. I don't know what year your car is but your looking at a stock stereo that is at least 12 years old and may be much more. That's pretty old for the stock stuff.



You may just need to get a new system.

 

I had an "MP3 connected to the stock system via cassette" contraption. I liked the fact that the OEM box filled the hole nicely. I have since bought an Alpine box and I have no regrets. Many newer CD decks have external input, plus they can read CD/MP3/WMA format. You can burn whatever you have on the MP3 player to a WMA format for about a nickel. Plus the sound quality makes the OEM box sound like a tin can on a string.

 

do you actually have to use those buttons? I'm sure there's a small gap between the button and the housing of the radio that the button sits in. Get a toothpick, shove it in the gap. Toothpicks are my #1 vibration-stopping tool, followed closely by folded up paper.

 

I dumped some fat knots (lots of cash) on one of those fancy, hard disk based MP3 players, like an IPod. That's why I dont exactly wanna go with the standalone MP3 player, but youse guys are right. Baldy, I like the way you think.

 

i have the same prob, i just put in solid motormounts. that makes everything else vebrate 10 times more. but what i did was just shove some paper on the bottom of the buttons and that works alright.

thats the one where the buttons are hollow underneath? maybe cram some clay in there?
