My car is at home so I can't duplicate the scenario right now, but it sounds like maybe the parking brake plug has been disconnected, if you pull the P-brake plastics off the plug is plainly visible at the lower rear of the assembly, the plug side should have one single red wire. If the top is suck in the down position and you need it up before you can get it working, there are screws in the side of each motor which release the clutch mechanism's so you can put the top up manually.

I've already got a coupe!

Thanks, I'll try that tonight. The parking brake light has been coming on even with the brake off, while driving. Could that be related?

It's nice to have the top up to keep honest ppl honest, it's too easy to flick a lit cig, dump a soft drink, or **** in a convertible with the top down, to name a few things. Theft is a different story, even if the top is up your **** is getting jacked one way or another.

I realized something this weekend. We had gone to the beach, and decided to leave the top down, and put purse/wallet/radio face in the trunk. But the stupid trunk release is in plain view. I guess there's no way to make it so the trunk can only be opened with the key? I mean besides disconnecting the cable.
