im gonna bring this topic up front now....



lets say that one of my friend tampered with it and that his car cannot idle for its own now....new engine.....I suggested him that it would be better for an engine to run too lean than too rich right? less gas cant be more harmfull than too much gas........

Running lean can be harmful because the fuel has the ability to cool down the combustion chamber, preventing self-ignition (pinking) and longer spark plug life (and engine life).



But that's less important when running idle or at low power so running lean means less emissions and fuel economy (some engines don't idle smoothly when too lean).
